After months of planning and anticipation, the CMNSU held our annual Careers in Communication (CIC) networking event. This was the first time that CIC has ever sold out so we knew we were in for a good time!
Our unique and diverse group of IPs were from all different fields of communication, giving our students an opportunity to get a unique picture of what kind of opportunities are waiting for them post-graduation. From public relations to non-profits to corporate communication, guests were able to learn from the IPs experience in addition to getting tips for how to best prepare for life after SFU. One attendee shared that she got to learn a little bit more about doing communication for a non-profit and realized that she had some experience already in that field. Yet through the other rounds of networking, she was able to connect with a few other IPs who helped her to get even more ideas of career paths that she could follow after graduation.
Yet even though there was some work involved, we also had some time for play! Throughout the night, guests were encouraged to tweet about the things they were learning and the best tweets of the night got some pretty cool prizes from our sponsors.
Here were a few of our faves:

After all of our rounds of networking, some of our guests were able to win some really cool prizes from some of our sponsors. From passes for yoga classes courtesy of Sempreviva Yoga to admission passes to the H.R. Macmillan Space Centre to passes to Bard on the Beach — we had some great prizes!
All in all, it was a fantastic evening! Special thanks to the CMNSU events team for working so hard to plan such a fantastic event and to the rest of the CMNSU team! See you next year!
