Tiana is a 3rd year Communications major and Publishing minor. Besides being the President of CMNSU, she works additional positions in digital marketing, promotions, and music & entertainment journalism. When she’s not studying, working, or writing, she can be found making meme-worthy memories with her friends. As President, Tiana looks forward to welcoming new students and getting everyone involved with all things CMNSU!

Taylor is a 3rd year Communications student and hopeful Business Administration joint major who is very excited to be a part of CMNSU this year. Passionate about technology and events, Taylor hopes to gain as much experience and skills as she can in the upcoming years. When she is not writing papers or doing school work, you can find her drinking tea, reading science fiction books, and discretely dancing to her music in public.

Jenessa is a third year Communication Major and Publishing Minor. She is passionate about social justice and media representation, and would ideally like to work through either the creative or cultural industry to advocate for societal and political change. She is also obsessed with semiotics and as a result, tends to over-analyze. Jenessa is a firm believer that life is laden with meaning, and tries to “stop to smell the roses”

Yasmim is a first-year Communications major and a Gender Studies (intended) minor. She really enjoys travelling and although she’s not sure what she’s going to do after university, she really hopes travelling is one of them. She can speak Portuguese, English some Spanish and some Japanese. Yasmim has been very into making things from scratch lately and honestly all she does in my free time is bake bread or make pasta.

Jao is a 3rd year Communication, Publishing, and Environmental Management student. Translated, he is passionate about media design, the environment, and how these two things overlap and interact! Outside of school, you can find Jao at a concert dancing it out or eating his weight in desserts. He is excited to start working as the VP of Marketing & Communications and looks forward to bridging the students together.
FACULTY & COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE
Born at a very young age, Arjan is a caffeine dependant life-form with an exceptional gift for napping. As a 4rd year Communication/Philosophy double major with an aptitude for bartending and marketing, Arjan has pretty much given up on sleeping. Nevertheless he strives to better SFU in any way he can, and his experience ranges from DSU involvement to being a representative on SFU’s senate. Arjan looks forward to using his final year to enriching the student experience in his new role as the CMNSU’s Faculty and Forum Representative.
Helen is a 2nd year Communications + Sociology Joint Major. She has a passion to bring about social change by encouraging discourse on topics so people are better informed; including herself. During her spare time, she debates about whether she should stay in her bed, or do something “productive”. Despite her constant worrying, she enjoys the little things and is super grateful about the opportunities she is privileged to have (like being the CMNSU Events Coordinator!!!).
Moni is a 2nd year Communications major and a maybe minor in publishing. Her life goal is traveling to every continent in the world and from her travels, her fave place so far has been a toss-up between Dubai and London. She’s incredibly excited to be in the CMNSU and is proud to be representing her faculty with such a wonderful team!
Gabriela is 3rd year Communication major who is pursuing a double minor in both english and publishing. She is interested in marketing, advertising and digital engagement. Gabriela enjoys spending time with friends and telling puns (even if they’re cringeworthy). She is excited to be one of this year’s sponsorship coordinators!
Grace is a 4th year Communications major and Fine & Performing Arts minor who loves to study how music & pop culture can bring about social change. She is passionate about great music, specifically enjoying jazz & rap. Aside from her love of music, she also is a huge science fiction nerd and eventually wants to learn how to fight with a light sabre and write in Circular Gallifreyean.
SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR
Pedro is a 4th year Communications student. He loves photography, movies, advertising, and shiny things. Pedro spends his time volunteering, reading, and hanging out with his friends.
On the cusp of her 4th year in Communications and Publishing, Sara has become pretty good at communicating.With a love for documentary films, she sees BBC’s David Attenborough as both a role model and grandfather figure. She enjoys long, reluctant walks to the library, and brisk runs to the bar.
Alessia is a fourth year Communications major and is also pursuing minors in Political Science and Publishing. When she isn’t drinking coffee or swamped with papers she can be found catching up on the latest sports news, laughing at the latest memes or listening to her favourite classic rock album.
