Volunteer Opportunity: Vancouver International’s Children Festival


Great (and fun!) positions are available at the Festival for students interested in future careers in Arts Administration, Event Management, Business/Sales, Tourism, Education, Early Childhood Development and other areas!

We need Key Assistants for the week of the Festival in these Key Areas: Arts Admin, Tourism & Sales All Week (May 30 – June 5) • Training May 28 or 29

1) Festival Shop (Sales Assistant)

2) CD Sales (Help coordinate Artists’ CD & Merchandise Sales)

3) Admin Desk (Receptionist)

4) Box Office (Audience Services Assistant)

5) Front of House (Venue Assistant – ticketing/ushers)

6) Activity Zone Access Sales (Help coordinate Activity Zone Wristband Sellers)

7) Activity Zone Manager (Assist Activity Zone Manager with activity supplies & daily running of zone)

8) Hospitality (Assist with Artist Hospitality)

9) Volunteers (Assist Volunteer Coordinator)

10) Info Booth (Festival Information)

11) Hosts (Act as tour guides and teacher’s assistants for school groups)

12) Traffic (Work with crew team coordinating Festival parking)

13) Marketing – Social Media (Work with Marketing Manager on Social Media Outreach)

14) Marketing – Photographer (Work with Development & Marketing Managers to document Festival site)

We also need Coordinators’ Assistants in the following activities helping with set-up, supplies, line-
ups and dealing with volunteers, school groups & public:

• Hands-on Activities All Week (May 30 – June 5) • Training afternoon Sunday, May 29

• 1) Human Board Games (playing several life-sized games – Scrabble, Twister, Festival-Land)

• 2) Circus Arts (learn juggling, diabolo, rhythm sticks, hula-hoop and stilt walking)

• 3) Magical Mystery Maze (magic outdoor maze with games & creative characters)

• 4) Musical Playground (musical experience area)

• 5) Hai! Origami! (learn traditional origami)

• 6) Peace Chimes (help children paint giant bamboo wind chimes for world peace)

• 7) Wishing Tree (children make wishes)

• 8) Top Hats (creating hats/headdresses from around the world)

• 9) Bicycle Spin Arts (assist children with spin art painting while riding a bike)

• 10) Twist and Toddle (ages 1-5 little kids’ activities area)

Also needed:

• General Weekday Volunteers May 30 to June 3 ~ 9:30 am to 3:30 pm (All Positions)

• FrancoFun! Day (June 2) French-speaking volunteers urgently needed

• Crew Support (May 24 to June 5) Assist Festival crew with security, performer services and set up)

• Brochure/Poster Distribution (April) Volunteers with vehicles needed for Festival brochure delivery
