Revamping the Reading Break

We all are almost halfway through the semester, and this is again that time of the year when most of us are stuck at building a particular schedule and working on that to make it through the rest of the semester smoothly. But spring comes with a one-week reading break, where one can mentally decompress and catch up on things one’s been planning to do for a long time now.

Here are the four things to try this reading break to boost your lost energy and get things done your way.

Snooze that alarm

Being a university student, sleep is the only thing I believe we wish for the most, and this is the perfect time to unplug yourself from the busy schedule and try getting some extra hours of sleep. Research by Harvard Medical School claims that when you are well-rested, the chances of performing well in academics are higher. Also, it is believed that there is a deep connection between sleep and academics as sleep helps in strengthening the memory, which eventually leads to improvement in academic performance. Not only this but prioritizing sleep also leads to better physical and mental health. It helps to cut down the stress and tension that arise due to the excessive workload in our lives. So go Get some sleep, people!

Take a breather

A Break from Work!!! Something we can just wish for as a student as there is a lot of work to catch on to, but mini-breaks in between work won’t hurt anyone. If you have a lot on your plate right now, one way to manage it evenly is to take a rest. It does not require you just to sleep; one can try doing things that bring peace to the mind, such as listening to your favorite music, cooking or ordering your favorite food, or starting reading a book you have been planning to start for a long time now. It is okay to take some time for self-care and pamper yourself while juggling through work.

In the squad, we trust

The only way these days we are connected to our friends and family is through our screens. It is very important to spend some quality time with your loved ones and feel their physical presence. Quality time spent with your loved ones helps in bonding and creating experiences one can cherish forever. This reading break, go meet people you have been missing. Some of the things you can do in this break are, go out and catch a drink with your friends, watch a movie with your family, or cook your favorite dish with your favorite person. Also, it is believed that spending time with the people you love helps in nurturing positive behavior. So, go make chill scenes with your mains!

Reality check to procrastination

Not to forget, there is a lot of pending work we all will be trying to catch on this reading break. It is the best time to make a list of things that requires your utmost attention. One best way to stop procrastinating is to eliminate all the distractions for some time, by which I mean our cell phones; keep that thing on silent or out of sight; this will help you focus on your work for a longer time. Try to set goals at the beginning of the day and reward yourself later when the task is completed; this will keep you motivated and going throughout the day. Lastly, do not stress and overthink about a particular task, and remember to take breaks.

Good luck and have a good Reading Break y’all.
