Multimedia’s Media and Tech Predictions Part 1
Miss Alan? Don’t worry here are some of his media tech predictions.
Okay, yes, we’re now into February—but hey we can still discuss what the future holds for us in the new year and beyond. To me the future looks bleak and frankly I’m losing hope. Hopelessness is dangerous, and I want society to be prosperous. I think hope is needed for that.
Well on that note let’s move over before I get too soapy because this is a predictions blog related to technology or media! As we all know, we are sold that media and TECHNOLOGY will save us, so let’s give these conglomerates all the power and money—tAxBreAKs— they need. Don’t you agree we don’t trust government with our information, but we trust private companies with it because they DON’T have an agenda?
There I go again—Let’s get into these predictions for real this time. Bear in mind these predictions were made at different times within the past 6 months. Context is important everyone.
We’ll start off with Alan, alphabetical order, he starts of with a prediction that in
1. “5-10 years, a kid-friendly iPad or iPhone will be released.”
Which I think is a good shout, a good shout 6 months ago—sorry Alan. Now in Trump era 2.0, I feel like those tech companies don’t need to adjust their plans to cater towards potential impacts of their devices on children. There are slow changes in society such as phones being banned in schools and I could see how the EU could enact rules that could lead to this, but I fear that with the USA steering in this direction there might not be a need to make a device solely for EU countries. Plus aren’t there already like kid devices out there? I like the thought Alan, and I could be wrong in 5-10 years.
He predicts
2. “NFTs making a resurgence every two years.”
Which I think will be embarrassing if that’s the case for society.
Moreover, Alan predicts that in the
3. “Next 3-5 years a new social media platform that has a system for bot-detection becomes the de-factor social media platform.” Which will ultimately “replace Instagram.”
I have a hard time imagining this only because of the sheer power of Meta and its ingrained place in society globally. Especially now with the broligarchy that is the USA’s government I don’t think the home boys want to do that to each other, unless they own it of course.
Something I can totally see happening is the idea that
4. “Pinterest gets acquired by Apple or OpenAI,” or “gets acquired by Deepseek”
As much as I don’t use this platform, I don’t want to see another thing bought by another big boy—I thought capitalism is supposed to have competition? However, we all know how the big men like to buy up other companies and grow their assets.
5. “Apple CEO Tim Cook dies of AIDS”
Come on Alan, what are we supposed to say about that? I can’t say “I’d rather him be Luigied.”
6. “Jimmy Fallon comes out as Bisexual”
Again, this is really pushing the tech and media predictions blog parameters. I digress, if this is the case, we’re happy for you Fallon that you felt ready to share who you are to the world.
Next time we’ll investigate what Emma has written in this series of tech and media predictions, sorry no coming out or death predictions incoming.
